Mardi Gras Official Statement
Troops/ individuals are not permitted to sell cookies within the barricaded areas (directly behind the barricades & within the crowds) of the parade route. This includes, but is not limited to, wagon walkabouts and standalone booths, or selling from cars in parking lots along the parade route.
As of now, troops will be allowed to sell at council approved businesses surrounding the parade route and on the parade route ONLY IF THEY HAVE AN ACCESSIBLE ENTRANCE/EXIT to a main roadway DURING the parade. Girls will not be permitted to sell at sites that have no entrance/exit access during the entirety of the parade. The site must be easily accessible to get to and leave at all times due to safety concerns for our girls and volunteers and allowing fair timeslots at booth sites. The site location must allow you to show up on time, unload, set up, load back up and leave all within your scheduled time frame.
These guidelines were put in place under the supervision of local police departments with the goal of keeping girls as safe as possible; police determined that cookie booths directly on the parade route would present additional safety risk to the Girl Scouts. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding in working with us to keep girls safe.
