Emma J. Price Scholarship

Girl Scouts of Louisiana - Pines to the Gulf offers the Emma J. Price scholarship each year to one GSLPG member who has received their Gold Award. View scholarship requirements and application below.

Emma J. Price was a member of the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts – Bayou Council where she served as chairperson from 2002-2008. She served as chair of the Realignment Committee in 2007, taking on the challenge of merging Bayou, Pelican, and Silver Waters Councils. She was elected chair of the newly formed Girl Scouts of Louisiana – Pines to the Gulf, and served in that capacity until her death in June 2009.

A life-long Girl Scout, Emma loved to tell stories from her childhood of camping with her Girl Scout troop in the backyard and walking to the library to check out books. Emma’s troop leader instilled a love of learning in all the girls in the troop. Emma was proud to say the whole troop went on to graduate from college. She wanted every girl to have the same wonderful Girl Scout experiences she had.

Emma was dedicated to her family, church, and community. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Education from Southern University and taught at Acadiana High School in Lafayette. Additionally, she was a notary public, bridal consultant, and small business owner. Emma was a strong leader with a fun-loving spirit.
