Limiting financial risk to families this cookie season

Dear Girl Scout Families & Volunteers,

In my previous communication, I informed you that the council would work to identify ways to limit the financial risk to our families and the council during the 2021 Cookie Program.  Today, I have great news on our progress. On January 21, we met with our Board and Volunteer Partners to share and discuss more about possible mitigation plans.  Now, I am pleased to share the good news with everyone.  All GSLPG Troops will have the following support and options available to them.

  • Consignment Option: In short, troops who pick up over 20 cases of cookies from a council cupboard during the third and fourth week of the sale will be allowed to return any unsold inventory from that week’s cupboard pick-ups.  Troops will receive full credit for the returned cases as long as they meet a quality control inspection upon return.  More to come on this soon.

  • Inventory Management Support: Staff and Service Unit Cookie Managers will closely monitor troop inventory and work to offer inventory tips and tools.

We are hopeful these measures will limit our families' financial risks during these challenging times.

Additionally, we will continue to do everything possible to ensure we can conduct a safe Cookie Program, as it is the much-needed fuel that sustains our girls' Leadership Experience. This will include continuing to monitor the COVID environment daily and making adjustments accordingly.  Most importantly, we plan to remain steadfast in our resolve to save this program one moment at a time for the girls and all of you.

You. Me. and GSLPG. We Got This.

Sincerely,

Rachel Broussard
