Why Girl Scout Cookies

There's more to Girl Scout Cookies than just a tasty treat. The Girl Scout Cookie Program prepares girls ages 5-17 for real life. The cookie program is directly related to our purpose of helping girls realize their full potential to become strong, confident and resourceful citizens. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is so important to the girls and it does so much more than provide a delicious treat. Everything girls do in Girl Scouting is designed to help them grow into leaders of Courage,Confidence, and Character. The 5 Skills that girls learn through the Girl Scout Cookie Program are an important ingredient in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Girl Scouts practice life skills like goal setting, public speaking and money management. They learn to work as a team with other Girl Scouts toward a set goal.

Many successful women have credited their success to the useful skills learned while selling Girl Scout cookies. Girls practice useful skills like planning, decision making, and customer service while participating in the Cookie Sale Activity. So, when your local Girl Scouts call on you to purchase a box of cookies, you are saying hello to tomorrow's business leaders. Funds raised each year go right back into the community. Girls use funds to support troop activities, and funds are also used to recruit and train volunteers and to sponsor special events and projects.
