Christmas Ornament Contest

Ornament Contest Graphic

Girl Scouts of Louisiana - Pines to the Gulf has partnered with the National Park Service to create 12 ornaments that will be featured on the state tree on the Pathway of Peace, inside President's Park, in Washington D.C.

The Pathway of Peace surrounds the National Christmas Tree and features 57 state and territory trees decorated with hand made ornaments unique to each tree. The trees are featured throughout December, after the National Christmas Tree lighting.

Put your creative caps on for a chance to have your troop's ornaments displayed! See below for complete details.

FULL DETAILS/RULES:

The theme for the state tree is "How Louisiana Celebrates Christmas."

Troops must work together to submit ONE design, either by hand or created on a computer, that they feel is a representation of how they celebrate Christmas in Louisiana. The winning troop will be charged to design 12 different ornaments that will be featured on the state tree. There will be a sign with the council's name and the troop that designed the ornaments on display as well.

Ornament design submissions will be accepted from September 1 through September 21. Submissions should be emailed to Asia Hebert at ahebert@gslpg.org with the subject ORNAMENT SUBMISSION. (Email submissions only)

On September 23 all submissions will be posted on our council Facebook page. The troop whose design receives the most likes will be chosen as the troop who creates all 12 ornaments. Voting (aka Facebook liking), will run from September 23 to September 29. It will close at 4:30 p.m. on September 29. Once voting has closed, the council will be in contact with the troop whose design received the most likes, and the winner will be announced on October 3.

The troop that designs the ornaments will have from October 3 to October 24 to complete their ornaments, before the council ships them to Washington D.C.
