  • Pardon Our Progress

Summer may be over, but big things are happening at Camp Bon Temps and Camp Wawbansee.

Camp Bon Temps is still drying up from the August flooding. Although the camp did not receive initial damage from the August flooding, the rain that fell in the days after the flood caused water to enter four cabins and the back bath house. We are still in the process of contacting FEMA and working to clean up and assess further cost of the damages. The good news is we signed a contract for the leveling of the Lodge and as soon as the camp is dried up, we will begin that project!

At Camp Wawbansee, we purchased a new stove for the kitchen in June! Currently, all 24 cabins and the troop house are undergoing repairs, and a new floating canoe dock is being installed!

We thank you for your continued support and patience as we deal with construction. We are working hard to create a great experience for everyone and know it will pay off. If you have reservations at either camp in the upcoming months, GSLPG will be in contact with you to further discuss construction.

  • Christmas Ornament Contest

Girl Scouts of Louisiana - Pines to the Gulf has partnered with the National Park Service to create 12 ornaments that will be featured on the state tree on the Pathway of Peace, inside President's Park, in Washington D.C.

The Pathway of Peace surrounds the National Christmas Tree and features 57 state and territory trees decorated with hand made ornaments unique to each tree. The trees are featured throughout December, after the National Christmas Tree lighting.

Put your creative caps on for a chance to have your troop's ornaments displayed! See below for complete details.

The theme for the state tree is "How Louisiana Celebrates Christmas."

Troops must work together to submit ONE design, either by hand or created on a computer, that they feel is a representation of how they celebrate Christmas in Louisiana. The winning troop will be charged to design 12 different ornaments that will be featured on the state tree. There will be a sign with the council's name and the troop that designed the ornaments on display as well.

Ornament design submissions will be accepted from September 1 through September 21. Submissions should be emailed to Asia Hebert at with the subject ORNAMENT SUBMISSION. (Email submissions only)

On September 23 all submissions will be posted on our council Facebook page. The troop whose design receives the most likes will...
