Sue provides leadership and vision for the development and achievement of the organization’s mission in partnership with the council’s Board of Directors. Sue advises, recommends, and assists in the council’s Board of Directors in the formulation of policies, governing the council and implements policies and directives of the board. She also directs the council’s day-to-day operations through the senior management team. Sue has been a Girl Scout CEO for 30 years. She was a Girl Scout Brownie in Japan, where her father was stationed in the Army. In the fifth grade she joined a troop in Pennsylvania. She was later a den mother for each of her two boys in Boy Scouts. Sue has a Master’s Degree in Child Development with a Minor in Social Welfare from Louisiana State University.  She also has a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from the Mendel Center for Non-Profit Organizations, Case Western Reserve University; and has attended the Executive Leadership Development Program at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Corporate Management Seminar and Program on Negotiation. Before joining Girl Scouts, Sue was a center director for Head Start in Baton Rouge, the assistant director for the First United Methodist Church’s Early Learning Center (Baton Rouge), and a preschool teacher. 

Sue is a member of the Rotary Club of Lafayette, the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, and served as legislative liaison for the Louisiana Girl Scout councils. Other community involvement has included the Louisiana Commission on Women’s Policy and Research, the board of the Family Tree Parenting Center, the Acadiana Arts Council, and the Lafayette Parish School Board’s Bi-Racial Committee. Sue is also a graduate of Leadership Lafayette Class XI and a member of the Krewe of Victoria, a women’s Mardi Gras Krewe.
