Giving girls the tools they need to succeed in the future is one of the main goals of Girl Scouting. Product Sales programs are designed to encourage Daisy, Brownie, Junior and Teen Girl Scouts to develop their self-potential, learn to relate to others, develop values and contribute to society.
Girls take part in product sales activities learn firsthand the value of making plans and setting goals. They invest their time and energy and, in the process, earn money for their Girl Scout troops. Those resources can then be spent to carry out their troop plans, or they can be saved for future Girl Scout activities. When selling Girl Scout products, girls also learn the basic steps in sound financial management - planning, earning, spending, saving and investing.
In addition to these direct benefits to individual girls and their Troops/Service Units, Girl Scout product sales programs benefit everyone involved in Girl Scouts of Louisiana - Pines to the Gulf. These activities help to provide many, but not all, of the resources needed by the Council to offer program events, learning opportunities, camping experiences for girls, training opportunities for Girl Scout Leaders and so much more for every girl in Girl Scouting. Every day Girl Scouts of Louisiana - Pines to the Gulf uses its resources wisely to help girls to discover, connect and take action to make the world a better place.
Supporting annual product sales provides girls with the opportunity to learn business, math, communication, self-esteem, goal setting, and teamwork skills that will help them throughout their lives. Product sale activities are not just about earning money, they contribute to the Girl Scout Program by adding another dimension to an already exciting and educational Girl Scout experience! Girl participation is voluntary, with each family making an informed choice.
Girl Scouts of Louisiana - Pines to the Gulf sponsors two Product Sale programs a year. The QSP Magazine and Nut Sale activtity that takes place annually in the fall and the Cookie Sale Activity that takes place in the spring.
